Board of Immigration Appeals

 

  1. The Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) is an arm of the United States Department of Justice.

  2. Many decisions of immigration judges or the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) can be appealed to the BIA, where these decisions can be reversed.

  3. Most BIA decisions can in turn be appealed to the US Federal Courts or the US Attorney General.

  4. Most cases that come before the BIA involve removal, but they hear other types of immigration cases as well.
